We live in the times of the digital world, where gadgets are part of our everyday life. At home, in the car, at work, everywhere you can see smart phones, laptops, tablets. Kids use them all the time to play games or watch movies. The more tangled kids get into the digital world, the less they care about the world around them.
We want our children to enjoy a childhood filled with Nature. Feel the warmth of Nature’s Lap and sense the world around them. But Unfortunately increased screen time has dampened these development processes significantly.
The world is increasingly becoming a place that is increasingly dependent on technology for most of its daily tasks. This is especially true for the younger generation, who have grown up with screens – so much so that we’re now seeing kids who can’t even entertain themselves without a TV and gadgets. It is important to encourage your child to lead a gadget-free childhood.
We are equally responsible for this. We feel like checking our phones all the time without even realizing what ideal we are creating for our kids. We hardly take them out for a walk, or read them a story book, due to which development of their imaginative power is hampering. Negative impacts of gadgets on our child’s life, sometimes it feels amazing seeing a 2 year old kid knows how to use a mobile but we should understand the harm it can cause to his development than we can ever think.
Some of the Negative impacts are:
3. Behavioural Disorder
4. Disturbed Sleeping patterns
5. Eye Disorders
6. Reduced Concentration
What can be done to decrease the screen time:
* Be an Ideal
Kids tend to follow us most of the time. If we read a book or do something creative in front of them, they will try to do the same.
* Limit Screen Time
Limit on their screen timings from beginning such that they put them on E Curfew on weekdays.
* Interact More with Kids
Take time out for them. Play with them so that they don’t feel left out and wont demand gadgets.
The key to get them physically and mentally active is to eliminate gadget use for 2-3 days and reintroduce them in a controlled manner. Engaging in games and other activities will build strong parent child interactions, improve motor skills, enhance learning abilities.
